We are two months into the year and Lesego “Coconut Kelz” Tlhabi is already owning 2021!
The satirist, actress and TV host has scored an acting gig in a new Showmax original series titled “Tali’s Baby Diary” which scooped several award for its first season’s “Tali’s Wedding Diary” show which aired in 2017.Lesego Tlhabi who created the character, Coconut Kelz will be appearing in the new season of Showmax original series ‘Tali’s Baby Diary’ in a few days.
This is after Tlhabi scored a TV presenting gig on SABC 3’s Trending SA.The show bid farewell to hosts Elma Smit and Refiloe Mpakanyane who were with the Trending SA family for an entire season. Tlhabi joined in the new season with Lootlove, Mo Flava and MaBlerh who is the daily host on the show. The three new faces of the show will rotate!

This is what she said about her alter-ego: “I didn’t do the character for any kind of career in the comedy scene; I just did it for my Facebook friends. So, it’s awesome to see how it’s grown and is my main career now, which I never expected. Kelz is going to be everywhere, so everyone who hates her needs to turn off their TVs because I am going to be everywhere.”
She’s also had to defend herself against trolls on social media who deemed her to be either “mocking black people or a whiteface comedian or a young white woman trapped in a black woman’s body.”
The satirist is also a writer, besides acting, and has appeared on numerous channels such as ETV’s morning show and Tlhabi’s BET specials which used to air weekdays on BET Africa channel 129.
