‘House of Zwide’ star Thato Dithebe grateful for ‘Kokota’ role

The dancer, presenter and actor Thato Dithebe who plays the role of a designer Neo in e.tv’s fashion drama House of Zwide tells Sunday World that landing a role in Kokota Piano has been the biggest highlight for him.

Dithebe’s teenage character Tshepang in the upcoming drama series has a deep love for music, but an even deeper love for his family and tight crew of friends.

“He is just another kid with a big dream, who genuinely does everything out of love but whose actions are always misunderstood until the end.”

“What you can expect from him is some of the best music SA TV has ever heard, big credit to JR, and a feel-good story about a young man balancing life, family, and the many challenges,” says the actor.

The show also includes Gomora stars such as Obakeng Kgwedi and Leera Mthethwa, Skeem Saam stars such as Molefi Monaisa and Thabang Lefoa, Scandal! star Bathabile Mashigo and actor Noel Baloyi.

HIS ROLE IN ‘HOUSE OF ZWIDE’
The muti-talented media personality Thato Dithebe also reveals that his House of Zwide character Neo and his Kokota role Tshepang are different.

Dithebe adds that while his Kokota character is very energetic and active, his House of Zwide character is laid back and cool.

Viewers of the e.tv fashion drama were introduced to Neo by Alex Khadzi (Warren Masemola). He is a talented fashion designer at House of Zwide who is in a relationship with Ona (played by Nefisa Mkhabela).

DStv reveals in a statement: “Kokota is a youth-centred story about one of the most impactful subcultures to come out of Africa. We can’t wait for our audience to be immersed in its world each Sunday night as it occupies the primetime slot.”

DStv viewers can watch Kokota from Sunday, 10 September at 8pm on Mzansi Magic (channel 161).
