Gomora Continues to Reign as South Africa’s Top Show

Gomora, the popular TV series, maintains its position as the most-watched show on DStv, with a staggering 780,773 viewers. These impressive numbers were released by the Broadcast Research Council of South Africa (BRCSA) on a monthly basis.

Following closely behind is Sizokuthola, with 657,496 viewers, and Gqeberha: The Empire, with 623,387 viewers, securing the second and third spots respectively.


 

Gomora has held the number one position for the past six months, consistently captivating audiences across the country. Despite the decision to conclude the show, its viewership remains strong. In April 2023, it boasted 863,074 viewers, and in March 2023, the numbers climbed to 885,304.

Leanne Khumalo, the show’s producer, expressed her gratitude for the continued support. She emphasized that Gomora has always transcended the screen and resonated with audiences. The show’s ability to tell authentic and relatable stories has been a major motivator for the entire team. Khumalo also acknowledged the cast’s remarkable performances, which brought depth and life to the characters that have become memorable for viewers.

As the show approaches its conclusion, Khumalo expressed pride in ending on such a high note. The final season has been a joy to create, with unwavering dedication and passion from the team. She also highlighted the show’s contribution in discovering new talent, both in front of and behind the camera.

Actress Siyasanga Papu, a part of the Gomora cast, shared her positive experience on the show.
