Holly Rey announced in an interview with Sunday World that she had severed relations with Black Coffee’s Soulstic Music record company, which she had previously been signed to. She wants to be an independent artist and runs her own record company, Rey Music, for this reason. The choice came at the perfect time, since her one-year contract with Soulstic Music was coming to an end.
However, Holly Rey only made the announcement due of the GBV allegations made against Black Coffee by his ex-wife Enhle Mbali.“Earlier this year, I left the record company because I realized there was so much more I could accomplish as an independent artist, and then the scandals broke. At the moment, I realized that my transfer would make more sense in terms of business, especially given the current situation. I’m simply happy that my single was a success and that I’ll be releasing an EP later this year,” she told the outlet.
The singer went on to say that she had no ill feelings against her former colleagues and that she was still willing to collaborate with them in the future. “I liked working at Soulstic Music, but with everything going on, I believe it’s better for me to focus on myself in my own time,” Holly Rey said.
