Sixty-one-year-old Thanduxolo is in critical condition after being shot seven times at a Soweto pub.

 

Bullets struck his arm, leg, and back. At Mdlalose’s Tavern in Orlando on Sunday night, Thanduxolo, 20, and Mandla, 23, were ambushed. Shots were fired at Mandla in the abdomen and thigh.

Because their area had been without power for three weeks due to cable theft, the two friends went to the tavern to play pool and watch soccer. The incident resulted in the deaths of sixteen people and the injury of seven others.

One hundred and thirty-two AK-47 cartridges had been found at the scene. At CHBAH, Thanduxolo and Mandla are undergoing rehabilitation.

Because Thanduxolo’s arm and leg are locked together, he is unable to move.

“I’ve never felt such pain before. I’m not sure I’ll be able to walk after this. That night, rumor has said, was bloody. I’m grateful to be alive,” says Thanduxolo.
