Here’s When Shaka ILembe Series Will Be Released

Shaka ILembe – The story of one of Africa’s greatest conquerors has been in production from 2020. It has been derailed due to various reasons including the pandemic, but they’ve already started shooting. It’s not a reincarnation of the 1980s Shaka Zulu film but a twist that will be very entertaining, informative and full of drama. Join us as we unpack more of the story below.

Entertainment Commentator Phil Mphela has revealed that the series is expected to premiere in 2023. No exact date has been made available by the producers but shooting is currently taking place in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng. It features trail blazing actors like Thembinkosi Mthembu, Muzi Mthabela and Nomzamo Mbatha just to name a few.

 
What to expect from the series

Shaka Ilembe executive producer Desiree Markgraaff continued to emphasize that they will preserve the original story by all means and try to be respectful to its history. The language used is Isizulu (hence the cast being dominated by a majority of Zulu speaking actors). Authentic African art, drawings, symbols and practices will be the order of the day. It has also been revealed that over 8000 jobs have been created for this series – this should give you an overview of how big the project is.
