When Unathi Nkayi interviewed Prince Kaybee on her show at Kaya FM, it was one of her most revolutionary moments.
Unathi Nkayi was sacked from Kaya FM in the middle of November 2021 after she allegedly violated the station’s standards, though the radio station withheld details of her specific offenses.
“Ms Nkayi’s contract has ended prematurely due to certain conduct that rendered the relationship intolerable going forward. Kaya 959 can confirm that certain incidents had occurred, which resulted in the breakdown of the trust relationship between the two parties.
“The business can further confirm that due process was followed and the decision was therefore made to part ways with Ms Nkayi,” read part of Kaya FM’s statement.
After Unathi Nkayi’s firing was made public, as was to be expected, a number of rumors regarding the specific event that led to Unathi losing her job at the station spread, with some alleging that she had gotten into a physical argument with her former coworker Sizwe Dhlomo.
Unathi Nkayi posted a message on her Instagram page a few days after quitting Kaya FM to explain what transpired. She said in her statement that Kaya FM had silenced her and prevented her from discussing what had transpired in public because of a written contract, adding that she had turned the matter up to her lawyer.
Nkayi also dispelled the GBV rumors that had been going around and claimed that Sizwe had never been the victim of any GBV against her.
