The Six Worst Actors In South African Soap Operas, According To Viewers
Many people in the acting field do not have what is required of them to be termed professional performers. Others, on the other hand, are probably just in it for the fame and fortune.
The following are the ten worst-qualified actors and actresses working in South Africa today.
Larona Moagi’s “Tumi (The River)” is our number one pick.
Larona Moagi, a stunning actress from South Africa, is most known for her performance as Tumi (Itumeleng) on The River. She plays an independent young woman in the telenovela who challenges the hypocrisy of her elders. This is her one and only acting role on television, which may surprise some people.
There are rumors that the show’s creators caved to audience pressure and murdered off Tumi.
Fans have been complaining for years that Larona Moagi hasn’t done anything to save Tumi’s life, despite repeated demands for her to do so. Moshidi Motshegwa, an actress who frequently clashed with Larona Moagi, once made a remark about Larona Moagi’s acting.
Skeem Saam, Katlego “Kat” Patrick
This performer and chef was born and raised in Seshego, a township in Limpopo Province. Patrick married his dream girl, Mmabaneng, and gave her the name Sekela. They complete each other and think that they were meant to be together. While they have certainly grown apart in the two years since their wedding, they still make time to play together like it’s their first day of marriage.
However, some Skeem saam backers believe Patrick is not a convincing actor because of how transparent he appears on video. It’s easy to tell from his work that this isn’t the career path he intended to take. He should put his music first instead of his acting job.
Raphael Griffiths Zithulele, Imbewu (No. 3)
Raphael is one of those musicians that became depressed after receiving vicious criticism on social media. Due to the severity of his depression, he was required to attend not one but two therapists at once.
Several people have suggested that Raphael take acting classes to improve his skills. There are many who think the actor delivers a decent but ultimately unconvincing message.
Number Four: Lunga Shabalala (The River).
It was obvious that Lunga Shabalala was just weird and unapproachable. The TV host maintained his cheerful demeanor throughout his stint on The Rive despite receiving scathing criticism on social media. The criticism hasn’t deterred him from working on his next TV show and developing his acting career.
Since people talk so much, the 31-year-old actor said he decided to keep a positive and spiritual outlook in the face of recent criticism about his acting skills.
Sharon Seno-Marang, Muvhango (No. 5)
Born in Botswana, Sharon Seno shot to fame as the character Marang in the SABC2 show Movhango. Sharon became well-known after she finished in the top five at Miss Botswana in 2013. Sharon fulfilled all requirements and merited a place in the top five.
When it comes to acting, however, we no longer have faith because the vast majority of #Muvhango fans have publicly expressed their disappointment with Marang’s work. It appears that this actress does not fully commit to her character and instead serves as a continual reminder that she is playing in front of a camera.
Queen Mpho Ntando Duma, Rank 7.
The only time Ntando Duma is in the news is when he does something wrong. She was once the target of Twitter abuse over the length of her dress at the burial for Shona Ferguson. A lot of people got mad and started trash talking her on the internet. However, the singer has a deep background in South African show business and was born there. As the host of e.tv’s Craz-e World live, which airs during the network’s youth-oriented block, she gained widespread recognition. On the e.tv soap opera Rhythm City, she played the role of Zinzi Dandala. However, ratings were dropping, thus the show was canceled earlier this year.
After getting the role of ‘Mpho’ in the 2020 Netflix original series The Queen, Ntando became a household name. After joining a drama series on Mzansi Magic, many of her fans and viewers have expressed their dissatisfaction with her acting. Many people voted for Antoinette instead of Duma because they consider her to be better than Ntando. Some have claimed that the casting team missed an opportunity by not providing Ntando a role that required her to be more active and assertive.
Leeto’s Skeem Saam (Track No. 8)
Eric Macheru is always brought up in conversations about Skeem Saam. Macheru’s performance as Leeto Maputla in the SABC one drama series has made him a household name in South Africa.
For quite some time, audiences have complained that Erich Macheru has to go to acting school since he fails to convince them. They don’t think he’s the worst or best choice, but they also don’t think he’s the best. He, like his fictional lawyer, has reached a crossroads and might use a helping hand. Most viewers will agree with me that actors and actresses cannot keep a continuous emotional tempo when they are giving their all to their jobs. His body language too needs some work.
