Her dad was a labourer and helped build UJ. Now she has graduated with an accounting degree

When he was a labourer and the University of Johannesburg construction site, little did he know that his daughter will graduate with an accounting degree at the same university.

All Matane Mphahlele wanted to do was to work hard and take home the bacon. Never in his wildest imagination did he ever imagine his daughter would graduate at the same university.

Besides, he was aged just 18 in 1971 when the construction was taking place.

Today his daughter Tebogo Mphahlele has graduated with a BCom accounting degree. And she did it in style at the University her father helped build.

“I said to God, I can’t believe when I was building here I was building my children’s future,” he said.

Tebogo said it was an inspiring tale to graduate at UJ.

She also doubles up as a model and she is the reigning Miss Mamelodi Sundowns.

Mphahlele said she started becoming interested in beauty pageants when she got to university but did not believe in herself.
