Growing up, Busiswa spent her early years under the care and guidance of her late mother and grandmother who were a great influence in shaping her strong personality.
Busiswa was introduced to the love of reading and poetry by her primary English teacher and this saw her perform at some poetry sessions to this day. Today she hosts the 1st Word Sessions which is a monthly poetry event held in Durban. Her humble beginnings saw her even drop out of varsity and sadly at that time she had no one as her mom was gone. She found herself squatting at her friend’s place as she had nowhere to go. She was doing all types of jobs she could lay her hands on just to get by.
Busiswa Gqulu Career
Known to love music and poetry, Busiswa was spotted by beat makers at a poetry session and she then recorded a song, S’yaphambana , which was loved by many including Oskido.
Oskido reached out to Busiswa at the right time and wanted her in studio so that they could work together. This saw her move to Johannesburg and later Oskido signed her under Kalawa Jazmee Records.
