DJ Maphorisa is both a producer and a DJ. He is an African big-shot and one of the most sought after DJs in the industry since he has worked with big artists such as Black Coffee, WizKid, and C4 Pedro, to mention a few. DJ MAPHORISA’S BIOGRAPHY
Born on the 15th of November 1987, Themba Sonnyboy Sekowe also known widely by his stage name, DJ Maphorisa is a prolific Disc jockey, record producer and producing artiste in South Africa. His genre of music is Amapiano, although he first ventured into Gqom, but due to the Durban producer’s calling him out for doing a genre that wasn’t from his town, he decided to major in Amapiano.

He performs his music both in English and his local dialect. He is popularly known for producing beats for top artistes locally and internationally. Among his best works is “Soweto Baby” which he featured Nigerian singer Wizkid in. Other artistes he has worked with are Kwesta, Uhuru, Drake, Black Coffee, Major Lazer, Runtown, among others.

EDUCATION
DJ Maphorisa attended high school in the town which he is from, but like every other music lover, he was an average student and focused mainly on his craft.

The DJ of recent decided he was going back to college, but didn’t reveal the course he was going to take, he might become a college graduate soon, as he has started his studies already.

CAREER
The international superstar disc jockey, DJ Maphorisa grew up from a music adoring family. His mother was a member of a music related congregation which boosted his love for the profession.

While he was still very much a fast rising sensation, he became part of Uhuru; a musical inclined group of like minds. While he was still part of the group, he released his first official single; which was a well accepted song.

PERSONAL LIFE
DJ Maphorisa who is an international figure is said to be dating a teenage influencer, Cyan Boujee.

The relationship is still very much a rumor as he hasn’t come out to declare if Cyan Boujee is his girlfriend, spouse or wife to be. Due to their social media posts and engagement, we can as well say that DJ Maphorisa girlfriend, spouse or wife to be is Cyan Boujee.

DJ MAPHORISA’S RELATIONSHIP
DJ Maphorisa is single as at the time of this writing, like any other artists he will obviously have admirers and groupies. But he hasn’t come out to say the if he is in a relationship or not.

REAL NAME
The DJ goes by so many nicknames that it is at times very difficult to settle on one. His birth name is Themba Sekowe. However, because of what he does, he has since adopted several other names. A lot of fans refer to him differently based on what they love about him.

DJ Maphorisa is presently signed to his record label BlaqBoy Music upon quitting Kalawa Jazmee Records.DJ Maphoria stopped doing Gqom songs because Durban producer and DJ’s said he is not from Durban hence he switched over to amapiano because it a national music genre.

CARS
He owns a fleet of cars including; Mercedes Benz G 63 which is worth over 1 million Rands. He has a Mercedes Benz V Class and BMW M4. DJ Maphorisa owns a double storey house in Midrand, Johannesburg.

DJ Maphorisa Controversy
Recently, DJ Maphorisa had Twitter engaged in a debate on who runs the music industry in the country. Phori tried to convince Twitter and Coffee why he believes he runs the music industry by mentioning the number of artists he has developed to be the household names they currently are.
