Mdabe starred in an SABC1 drama series, Intersexions in 2011 and landed a cameo role in another drama series, A Place Called Home.
As a singer, she is signed to the Shota Music and has a good number of albums to her credit including Breathing Out, Just Listen, and Hello Happiness.

She has also hosted a good number of TV shows, as well as participated in several reality shows.In 2007 Phumeza Mdabe was signed to Universal Music and went to release her debut studio album, Feeling Brand New. Her second studio album, Breathing Out was released under Shota Music and her third studio album,Just Listen, was released in 2010 under Gallo Records.

Phumeza has done many commercials for top brands in the country including Ponds, Kelloggs, Jet Stores, Nando’s, and Loxion Kulca. On Cula Sibone, an Mzansi Magic/Mzansi Wethu game show, Phumeza Mdabe was hosted alongside Bujy Bikwa in 2013.

Phumeza Mdabe placed her recording career on hold telling the Independent Online during an interview, “At the moment I’m not working on anything musical. I need to be in a certain space to get inspired to write, for melodies to come. I’m now giving TV presenting a chance. I am giving it my all, taking it all in.”
