Zonke Dikana Biography
South African born singer-songwriter and record producer Zonke Dikana, is popularly known for her album āIna Etheā which was certified double platinum and was nominated at the 18th South African Music Awards.
Zonke Dikana Early Life
She was born on 11th October 1979 in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Her father was a drummer for a group called āBlack Slave and the Flamingoā while her late stepmother Anneline Malebo was a singer for a musical band known as Joy. She graduated from the University of the Free State with a Degreen Human Resource Management in 1997.
Zonke Dikana Career
She was first taught by her father about music and later her step mother Anneline Malebo introduced her to several artists including Ringo, Joe Nina and Deborah Fraser who she worked with either in writing or vocal capabilities. Zonke had her big break when she wrote a song titled āAfrica, My Motherlandā for (Germany)-based band Jazzkantine. In June 2011, Zonke left Kalawa Jamzee for TMP Records and started recording Ina Ethe, her third studio album. Preceding the albumās release were two lead singles āJikāIzintoā and āFeelingsā. Ina Ethe was self-produced and was released through TMP Records to critical reviews. The album also did well commercially, going double platinum.
On 25 October 2013, Zonke recorded and released a live album through Sony Music Entertainment titled Give and Take Live at the Lyric Theatre, Gold Reef City, Johannesburg. The album achieved gold status under two months of its release. Give and Take Live also won two category awards at the 20th South African Music Awards.
