The Amahubo Gospel series host refused to comment on the split this week, citing respect for her in-laws and “potential future in-laws”.

said:
I will never go to the media to discuss our divorce. Even if I can remarry twice or five times, I will never go to the media because I value my existing family. I don’t want them to seem bad because I think I’ve got better… I don’t want to draw attention.

“Also, the family I may marry into in the future… I don’t want to be known as the wife who publishes her family’s affairs. “I value others’ feelings,” she remarked.

Sources close to the Limpopo-based musician allege the marriage ended due to years of adultery and irreconcilable issues.

A close friendship between one of her backing singers and her spouse exacerbated the situation last year. “They were quite close and it got concerning when rumors of an affair surfaced,” the insider stated.

Mashaba filed for divorce in 2017, but did not go through with it for unknown reasons.

She doesn’t want anyone to doubt her marriage, therefore she keeps her [wedding] ring on.

Mashaba and Makgopa married in 2005 and have no children.

Another person close to Mashaba’s spouse stated Makgopa was deeply impacted by his wife’s closeness to a singer only identified as Khelobedu.

“If you research their names, you will see how close they were,” the friend stated. “How can you be happy with your wife going up and down with a well-known showbiz Casanova who is single?”

Mashaba denied that a bandmate caused her marriage to fail.

Still in my band. We’re good. “No way,” she said.

The famous singer refused to discuss her personal life:
I prefer to keep my personal life secret… But for now, we’ll keep our lives secret from the audience. Any subsequent marriages or separations will remain private because I never announced my intention to marry.

She revealed two miscarriages in a 2019 interview with Drum magazine.

“I gave God everything after two miscarriages,” she remarked. “Sometimes I joke that if Modimo [God] grants me children today, I’ll neglect my other responsibilities,” she told the tabloid.

“The only piece I have published is the one I felt I had to share with many ladies regarding my two miscarriages,” she told City Press at the time. That’s the only personal detail I recall providing; I’m not sure where the rest came from.

“I’ve been reported dead and mentally ill in the media. So, let’s just say it’s one of those things. I will call you if I have an issue and want to discuss it, but otherwise, I would encourage you not to listen to everyone.

Another source said the singer was currently going to therapy to deal with the breakup.

Makgopa had not responded to demands for comment by press time.
