Being tasked with singing the South African national anthem at a Springboks rugby match is not for the faint-hearted. But for Nosipho Silinda – a former Idols SA finalist – it was smooth sailing.

The 22-year-old star delivered a perfect performance at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday, 8 July, where the Boks clinched a victory against Australia. The match marked the kick-off of the Rugby Championship.Needless to say, South Africans were thrilled at her performance, which went without a hitch.

One tweep posted: “Not sure who the lady is that was singing the National Anthem on Loftus today, but MAN did she do a beautiful job at it”

 

 
Nosipho was a finalist in season 14 of Idols SA. The young woman dropped out of school to pursue a music career but returned in 2020 to complete her Matric year.
Her aunt is singer Busisiwe “Cici” Thwala
Nosipho hails from Ladysmith, in KwaZulu-Natal, and is the eldest of six children.
Apart from music, Nosipho has tried her hand at acting, landing a guest role in the telenovela The Queen.
Bosipho is signed to Gallo and is working on her debut album.
