Actor Langalakhe Zwane has been cast in the main role of an upcoming drama series. It has been decided that he will play the part of a person who looks identical to the American actor Morgan Freeman.
“From what I hear, this is a drama series, and it takes place right here in South Africa. At this point, not only do I not have access to all of the relevant information, but I also am not authorized to discuss it.
“However, I was informed that I will be portraying a character that is a lookalike of Morgan Freeman. Even though we haven’t worked out the nitty-gritty arrangements yet, I’ll be heading to Joburg in May to start filming there. I also couldn’t finalize everything with them as I am completing my scenes on Umkhokha,” he said.
Langalakhe described the acting gig as being for him like a beacon of hope at the end of a dark tunnel.
Recently, he was let go from his position at Umkhokha: The Curse. At that time, he reported to Daily Sun that he had not been provided with any prior warning, other than the fact that Mbuso Khoza would be returning.
“Umkhokha: The Curse has dismissed me from my position. I am no longer participating in the show in any capacity. I was informed that the person who is entitled to this position has returned, and as a result, I had to make room for him. I did ask the producers to at the very least provide me a different part even if it’s small, but I couldn’t get a response,” he had said to the Daily Sun previously.
It is not the first time that he has played a character that is similar to Morgan Freeman. In 2019, he went to Nairobi for the purpose of filming an advertisement there.
“The ways in which God operates are not always clear. My cries were immediately heard by him. I suppose it’s true that as one door shuts, another one opens up somewhere else. In point of fact, it appears that I will be successful in my acting career, and I am savoring every bit of it.
“For instance, I’ve worked as a musician on a variety of productions, such as eHostela, Imbewu, and Uzalo, and most recently on Umkhokha. Now my biggest dream is to meet Morgan Freeman. Who could say? “Who knows? Maybe you’ll end up in Hollywood,” he said.
