Although they have been quite disturbed with the news that one of the top actors in this medical drama series is leaving the soap, but now they can actually be happy with the new surprise announced. Clearly the writers of this soap heard the call to up their game and pull up their socks on the script after the soap got a warning that it could be cancelled. This came after a significant drop of viewers in the past months comparing it with October when it started to air. The time it came on air, even its competition, Skeem Saam, was affected as about 20 000 viewers went to Durban Gen, however in the past months they lost lot of viewers who went back to Skeem Saam.

Durban Gen, is a medical drama series that airs weekdays on eTV at 18:30 and it is based at Newlands East, where the prominent and most recognisable medical academic Public hospital, Durban General is based at. It is a highly acclaimed hospital that is the jewel of KZN healthcare. The centre of excellence where every doctor wants to practice and every patient wants to be treated.

It follows the trial, tribulations, triumphs, heartbreaks and bonds experienced by Durban Gen staff including its doctors and nurses.

Now, Durban Gen viewers must embrace themselves for the biggest surprise, the new actor who has joined family, all the way from SABC 1 Skeem Saam.
