Phumlani came onto the Gomora show with a purpose, we all know that much is true. He has an unhealthy obsession with Onthatile and he wants to avenge his brother.
His intentions are not clear to Nthati whose feeling are clouding her judgement

Phumlani has taken things a step further. After fake-kidnapping Mazet who is giddily unaware. She is very happy with him, even working out and trying to get her walking again. She is a lamb in the lion’s den and the lion is ready to swalllow her whole. So why isn’t he?

Could it be that he wants to toy with Nthati first?
That looks to be the answer here to me. He can tell she’s jealous of his little friendship with Mazet and is just dangling that in front of her face. He is determined to be a problem in their lives and Nthati is blind to to it

Her mother Sonto, has figured this out of course but she hasn’t. Her selfish nature will work against her here. She thinks it’s about attraction but Phumlani doesn’t care about Mazet like that. I wish they would stop making Nthati so suddenly stupid cause she isn’t.

Personal Thoughts
Onthatile is the same woman who took down Don and made it possible for her mother to return. How can she be the same woman to allow petty jealousy to stop her from seeing the truth? Phumlani is her brother-in-law whose brother was killed by Mazet. Does she really think this man is there to romance her? It would make no sense to me for it be that way.

I hope she eventually comes around to the truth.
