Gladys and Melusi break up for good

Friday’s Gomora was the closing of a chapter. It appears Melusi and Gladys have broken up for good. Gladys surprised her son when she revealed that by Phumlani’s invitation she is going to attend Thati and his wedding.

Gladys made a stop at the hospital to see Melusi who tried to lie by saying he had gone to Mam Sonto’s to talk about school bullies. This after he had tried to kiss soon to be wed, thati.

Gladys did not buy it this time and gave Melusi her wedding ring, closing the veil on their marriage. Melusi though disappointed by Gladys’ action found the strength to get up and get himself ready to crash the wedding.

He is going to crash the wedding no doubt. DSTV shows which are mostly developed by Phathu Makwarela and Gwydion Beynon have a love for crashing weddings. On the River Zolani and Lindani both tried to crash each other’s weddings. So expect Melusi to crash thatI’s wedding.

The wedding venue is exquisite. Gomora are finally spending their budget on weddings. We have long seen them have ceremonies with very low budgets. It’s a good start though its unlikely they can ever rival the king of weddings, The River.

Back to Gladys, it is good to see her finally cut ties with this loser Melusi who can’t ever stop going back to Thati, his true love. Gladys has taken the man back so many times it’s hard to believe she is a social worker, even after she lost her unborn baby because of him. She is finally rid of him but Melusi being Melusi is going to humiliate her for the last time at the wedding.

It’s interesting to see what will happen at the wedding. Will Thati choose Melusi over Phumlani? If he does what will Phumlani do? It’s already clear that Phumlani is dangerous. How will he react to being humiliated?

In other news, I’m not happy with the new gangster character Gqoqs. The actor playing Gqoqs was a good villain in the Pallance Dladla movie, Hard to get. He is wasted on Gomora. Gomora is not a scary show since its actors are protected by plot armor. Why put people in danger when we all know they are not going to die? Is Malusi going to die? No. Is Ntokozo going to die? No. So what is the point of having villains. Just focus the show on relationships and leave the violence and danger to The River, a show with real consequences.
