Malawian-born rapper, songwriter and producer, Gemini Major’s much-anticipated album is finally here. Arguably one of the most versatile and gifted producers in Mzansi, he is a force to be reckoned with in the music production circles.

Titled Win or Die, the 15 track album is already certified hit, with dope beats and features, you can’t skip a single track.Having relocated to South Africa in 2009, Malawian-born Gemini Major is regarded among the best hip hop producers in South Africa, his work ethic and beats are hot property for some of the best in the country. Having created dope beats for Mzansi stars like Riky Rick, AKA, Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C, K.O, Da L.E.S, arguably the biggest names in South African hip-hop. His distinct trap beats, unique Afropop and Afrobeats have produced some of the most memorable mega-hits in South Africa, even working with the likes of Mafikizolo and Amanda Black. He has co-produced songs with other producers such as Tshego, Nasty C, Tweezy and K.O. For instance, he was highly involved in the production of K.O’s PTY UnLTD and Tshego’s Pink Panther albums which both came out in 2019.
His real name is Benn Gilbert Kamoto, and he signed to Cassper Nyovest’s Family Tree records in 2013, an independent stable owned by Mufasa. He signed with Family Tree after he met the rapper on a video shoot for one of the songs he has produced. Gemini Major has produced for a number of artists in various music genres, his versatility has seen him produce for R&B, hip-hop, house, dancehall, pop and gospel. His musical portfolio includes songs that have been used in South African television such as Gold Diggers, Forever Young and Mo Love.
Some of his accolades include being nominated for Producer of the Year at the South Africa Hip Hop Awards alongside South Africa’s best hip hop producers in 2015. On his album, he features Nasty C among other well-known hip hop heads. The 15 track album is laced with his sought-after beats, arguably his best work so far.
