Gail Mabalane shared a video on Instagram indicating it was shortly after she cut her hair low the first time.
However, she revealed a curious fan asked her how she is feeling after the haircut due to her CCCA diagnosis.
CCCA is central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia which is a very common cause of alopecia or hair loss in black women. Hair loss from CCCA occurs primarily in the central (crown) part of the scalp.
In her video, Gail stated she feels liberated, empowered.
She went further to explain that there is something about cutting the hair which does not only signify a brand new beginning but also the boldness and confidence that no one can take away from the person.
