From A Top Footballer To A Farmer | Ex-Chiefs & Downs Defensive Midfielder Ventures Into Farming.

In an ideal world most Premier Soccer League (PSL) footballers would retire comfortably solely because of monies made during their careers. Unfortunately some go to lose it all because of being financial illiterate. Well in the list of former footballers who are still financial well off we might as well add the name Derrick Spencer, a legend in South Africa football.

There was once a point in time where Kaizer Chiefs had the services of some of the best defenders at their disposal. During that era, Patrick Mabedi, Siphiwe Mkhonza, Cyril Nzama and Derrick Spencer used to give outstanding man of the match winning performances as they would tame even the most lethal opponents from the opposition.

The listed quartet were just in a league of their own, in the case of Derrick Spencer he not only went to became a legend at Naturena but even at Chloorkop too. Talking about Spencer he was a very unique footballer he could easily excel as a defender and also as a midfielder, any coach would have loved to have him on their team.

As one of the elite footballers of his generation, he was without a doubt taking home a big pay cheque which enabled him a posh lifestyle. As expected even post retirement Derrick Spencer is still living a comfortable lifestyle even though he spends most of his time away from the limelight.

Out of curiosity we have since decided to investigate as to what Derrick Spencer might be up to post his footballing days. We have since been fortunate enough to learn that he is into cattle farming. In the past few days he recently took to social media where he shared a couple of images on his farm with his herd.
