Grace Gaobepe is a former sangoma from Durban who became a Christian after telling her story. Many were touched by her story of leaving sangoma life to become a Christian. Even if her story is moving, others may misinterpret it.

Since she quit being a sangoma five years ago, she’s proven wrong those who thought things would go badly for her.

 

She claims a sangoma who stayed underwater for a year and three others predicted she’d go mad and her marriage would fail, but now that she’s a born again Christian, her marriage is doing better than ever.

She discusses the prophecies of the submerged Sangoma and how they had no chance against God’s will, saying, “he could predict your name and was very strong.” God showed him his flawed wisdom when he couldn’t recognize God’s creations.

She says, “Even the most powerful Sangoma can’t perceive God’s secrets or mysteries because the information he has is from another realm.”

She mocks Amadlozi by saying they can be taken by the initiator and she won’t follow a takeable God. In God’s kingdom, neither cows nor goats are killed to earn benefits; instead, God bestows them as a result of his grace.

She implies that ancestors are evil spirits by saying, “The enemy can lie, project fear, and threaten you to steal your real God-given destiny while he gives you a demonic mandate that will result in a generational curse, with many of your descendants having to feed that altar through constant blood sacrifices.” More demons will enter your home as you bring offerings to this altar. Demons can attack anytime.
