The most popular soap opera in South Africa to date, Generations featured some of the most brilliant Mzansi actors and actresses. Some of the actors are still active in the field and making significant contributions to cinema. Others, though, have fallen short of expectations, causing their acting careers to stall or slow down. Here are a few of the actors whose careers suffered as a result.
Tobias Mokhethi
The majority of us recognize him as Samuel Khumalo from the previous season of “Generations.” For those who are unfamiliar with Thabiso, he is a well-known South African actor, TV host, and entrepreneur best known for playing Samuel Khumalo on the venerable SABC1 soap opera Generations. From 2005 until 2011, he lived with the Generations family for 6 years.
Samuel had the opportunity to play the famed Ntombi’s brother in the soap opera (played by Sonia Mbele). As well as seeing Samuel and Sharon (played by Kagiso Rakosa) go through their own trials and tribulations before falling in love, we also got to experience one of the nicest traditional weddings we’ve ever seen on television.
Sipho Ngwenya, 2.
Ajax was portrayed by South African actor and singer Sipho “Psyfo” Ngwenya in the previous SABC1 soap opera Generations. He is originally from Kimberly in the Northern Cape, but moved to Johannesburg with his siblings when he was still a little child. In Johannesburg, he continued his academic pursuits.
He had the opportunity to portray “Ajax” on Generations back in 2016, and this was his greatest career accomplishment. One of the most watched soap operas in the nation at the time was Generations. People loved him and wanted to see him in more other shows because of the character he played, which made him famous.
Kagiso Rakosa 3.
The most of you will recall Sharon as the vivacious actress who kept us amused during the heyday of the previous SABC1 soap opera Generations. She has appeared on the program for six years, starting in 2005 and ending in 2011. She left the show abruptly, though, and many people have been wondering where she is now. It is unknown why Sharon quit the serial opera. In 2014, Sharon also played the sister of Detective Lungi Mlaba, Andiswa Mlaba, on the eKasi+ detective drama series Traffic.
