South Africa: Few days ago the South African entertainment industry was hit with one of the shocking celebrity death this year. First it was Mpura and Killer Kau in 2021, now Ricky Ricky, Dj Somebody and Mampintsha in 2022. If this continues, South Africa will run out of good artists in the coming years.

 

Meanwhile, Gqom artist Mandlenkosi Maphumulo, also known as Mampintsha, will be buried on Friday after suffering a stroke in a Durban hospital. Maphumulo’s father-in-law, Mbongeni Simelane, said that the family was with Mampintsha until the end. Maphumulo’s wife, Bongekile “Babes Wodumo” Simelane, is reportedly doing well with the support of the family.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday at Bishop Dube’s eThekwini Community Church in Durban, and all are welcome to attend and pay their respects. Musicians have also paid tribute to the late artist, with gospel singer Danger saying he will miss Mampintsha’s “dance, music and food, everything about him.”
