On social media, Madumane called event organisers out for being stingy, threatening to cancel them and hold his own shows instead.

I can hear that a lot of people are just complaining with the charges of DJ Maphorisa about his booking fare. People need to understand that the same brand that you can get in Edgars, you can also get it in Lahom, but now with a very different price. We have things that are made for poor people, they are products that are for average people, and the are products that are for rich people.

If you cannot afford it, you just leave it, but that does not mean that someone will not come and buy it. So DJ Maphorisa understand the kind of a brand that he is. He is not going to get out of business because of how much he charges, as long as he is delivering the quality that the buyer wants.
