A Twitter follower went straight for the jugular in a tweet on Wednesday, 10 June 2020, which called DJ Maphorisa straight-up ugly. The back handed compliment praised the South African hit maker for his music, but began on a sour note when he mentioned his looks.

Tetelo Motsepe stated, “Truth be told you’re very ugly but that doesn’t take away the fact that you’re a hit maker.”

Not one to keep quiet, Phorry responded back with a comment which insinuated that the tweep was gay. He stated, “Thanks I appreciate but a guy saying all this bullshit? Might be twinplug.”Fans quickly jumped to the DJ’s defence, defending his honour to the masses. Many highlighted the fact that there was a misconception that being dark was unattractive, when in fact that is not the case.
