South Africa has been left shocked following one of their favourite award winning DJ, musician and record owner Sonnyboy ‘DJ Maphorisa’ Sekowe over abuse allegations. According to reports, the Amapiano sensation allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and fellow DJ Thuli Phongolo in her place at Sandton, Gauteng. It’s believed that the two lovers had an altercation which escalated quickly and ended up being physically. The Mzansi publication Sunday World stated that Maphorisa grabbed and dragged Thuli by her neck away from the house. And they ended up in the balcony whereby the continuous assault occurred on Sunday.
This matter has been trending on social media whereby numerous femanist are calling for justice against Gender Based Violence (GBV). As they’ve had enough of such incidents in the country and they don’t want to see yet another soul lost due to abuse. Maphorisa is currently facing GBV charges which is currently assault, but it depends on Thuli if she wants to add more charges to this case. Madumane spent a night in Sandton police station on Sunday, but he’s hoping to get a bail and then fight for his innocence. Since, he’ll have to clear his name at the moment as it’s been dragged through the mud. Only the judge will pinpoint if he’s guilty or not, we’ll have to wait for the judgement.
According to the actress, all it was supposed to be between Maphorisa and her was a confrontation and nothing else. As she wanted some clarity about the issue they had on Saturday night during Maphorisa’so gig. Little did she know that she was opening a can of worms and she has deactivated her Instagram account and she’s barely seen on other social media platforms after the horrible news broke. “We are still trying to gather how she is doing. I am seeing her in the next hour… We just need to actually figure out what is happening… She was with her road manager,” said Phongolo’s manager.
