Family Members & Friends Gathered To Pay Their Final Respect To Maupi

Family members, friends, colleagues, and fans gathered at the late newsreader’s family home in Ga-Maponto to pay their last respects to a man who was described as an exceptional broadcaster, mentor, and friend.

Maupi, who was born and raised in Ga-Maponto, had a passion for journalism from a young age. He started his career at Thobela FM, one of South Africa’s leading radio stations, in 2005 as a junior reporter. Over the years, he worked his way up the ranks to become one of the station’s most respected and admired newsreaders.

Maupi’s colleagues and friends spoke highly of him, describing him as a dedicated and hardworking journalist who was always willing to go the extra mile to get the story. They said he was a mentor to many young journalists at the station, always willing to share his knowledge and experience to help them grow in their careers.

Speaking at the funeral, Thobela FM station manager Lekwape Makwela said Maupi’s death was a great loss to the station and the journalism industry as a whole. “Maupi was not only a great newsreader but a mentor to many young journalists at Thobela FM. He had a passion for journalism and his dedication and hard work were an inspiration to us all. His death is a great loss to us and the industry,” he said.

Makwela added that Maupi’s legacy would live on at the station, and they would continue to honor his memory by upholding the standards of journalism that he stood for. “Maupi was a true professional who always upheld the highest standards of journalism. We will continue to honor his memory by upholding these standards and ensuring that his legacy lives on at Thobela FM,” he said.

Maupi’s family also paid tribute to him, describing him as a loving husband, father, and son who was always there for his family. They said they were proud of his achievements and the impact he had on the journalism industry. “Maupi was not only a great journalist but a loving husband, father, and son. He was always there for his family and his dedication to his work was an inspiration to us all. We are proud of his achievements and the impact he had on the journalism industry,” they said.


 

The funeral service was conducted by Reverend Ephraim Maepa, who called on the mourners to celebrate Maupi’s life and legacy. “Maupi was a man who touched many lives and made a difference in the world. We should celebrate his life and the legacy he leaves behind,” he said.

The funeral procession then made its way to the Mohodi ga manthata New Stand Cemetery, where Maupi was laid to rest in a solemn ceremony attended by family members, friends, and colleagues.

As the coffin was lowered into the ground, a sense of sadness and loss filled the air, as those present bid farewell to a man who had touched so many lives. But there was also a sense of gratitude for Maupi’s life and the impact he had on the world, and a determination to carry on his legacy.
