Deborah Fraser born June 9, 1965 – May 15, 2022 was a South African gospel singer. She began her career in 1985 as a backing singer, and recorded her own album in 2000, titled Abanye bayombona, which became commercial success sold over 1 million copies in South Africa.

Legendary gospel musician passed away at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital after a short illness.

Dr Fraser had released albums such as Giloria, Isililo, Umsamaria, Udlalile Ngabantu, Thanksgiving, Awusenasabelo, Umqhele, and Uhambo.

Meanwhile since her passing, the late gospel singer family, is reportedly still battling with the late singer’s record company Universal Music, accusing the record label for not keeping its promise with the royalties owed to the late South African gospel musician.

Guardian Nontando Mafisa, speaking with the publication was quoted as saying, we had a meeting with them after the funeral, and they promised to release her last album. Unfortunately, that was the last time we heard from them. We are now wondering if they’ll ever keep their promise. We have called them, emailed them asking about this album, but no one is responding.

Its is indeed sad to witness what South African musicians go through, more especially after the contributions they make to put Mzansi on the map.
