Exposes Makhadzi for Allegedly Failing to Pay and Taking Advantage

A Johannesburg stylist has come forward to shed light on the exploitative practices within the entertainment industry, claiming that musician Makhadzi failed to pay her R2,700 for her styling services. Zoe Bhozza, the stylist, also accused Makhadzi of taking advantage of her by keeping a designer outfit without paying the agreed-upon amount of R800.

According to Zoe, she was introduced to Makhadzi by her videographer, Zee, who requested a discounted rate for the styling services for a music video shoot. Zoe negotiated her usual daily rate of R5,000 down to R2,300 and even provided an additional free day for the shoot in March. However, she has not received payment for her work.

Zoe revealed that she was not the only one who did not receive payment for their contributions to the shoot. The entire team involved in the production was allegedly left unpaid. When Zoe attempted to expose the situation, Makhadzi pleaded with her not to speak out and promised to settle the outstanding fees.

Having left her young child at home to attend the shoot, Zoe agreed to lower her rate multiple times to accommodate the requests of Zee. Despite promises of payment, Makhadzi and her team did not fulfill their commitment, leading Zoe to contact them through social media and finally reach out to Zee through a third party. Payment was promised, but it never materialized.

Zoe’s frustrations grew, and she contemplated exposing the situation publicly. Makhadzi then called her, pleading with her not to speak out and promising to send the payment after her Durban July trip. However, the payment was not received, and Zoe’s attempts to send an invoice went unanswered.

Makhadzi, her manager Lucky, and their representatives were unavailable for comment, as their phones went unanswered and messages went unresponded to.

This recent controversy adds to previous reports of Makhadzi’s alleged non-payment to a producer and event organizer. The musician has faced negative publicity in the past for accusing her former record label of owing her money.

The allegations made by Zoe highlight the ongoing issues of non-payment and exploitation within the entertainment industry. Such practices undermine the work and livelihoods of professionals who contribute their skills and talents to the success of artists and productions.
