In May, Carol Bouwer’s production company bought the licence to establish the Miss World South Africa. This after the Miss SA organisation – through Sun International – chose not to renew the lience with the international pageant.
Over the weekend, the the Top 12 contestants were announced. According to Sunday World, the finalists will compete at the Miss World South Africa finale in October, set to take place at the Nasrec Expo Centre.

A press statement read: “From now until October, the 12 contestants will participate in a series of rigorous competitions, including talent showcases, sports challenges and charitable initiatives aimed at highlighting the qualities that make them exceptional ambassadors of change ahead of the national final competition and beyond”.
Meanwhile, the 71st annual Miss World will take place on 9 December in India.
SHUDU IS THE LAST MISS SA TO ENTER MISS WORLD
After two years of delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the last Miss World pageant took place in early 2022
Although Shudu Musida was crowned Miss SA in October 2020, she had to wait to strut her stuff at the global pageant, which was postponed in 2020, and again in 2021,
Hours before its kickoff on 16 December 2021, the international pageant was rescheduled due to a Covid-19 outbreak among contestants. And it wasn’t just Covid-19 contestants were grappling with – according to insiders, the hotel in Puerto Rico was dealing with severe power cuts.
Shudu, miss world, miss universe
In many stances, the national titleholders choose to participate at the Miss Universe pageant. However, Shudu clarified confusion over her Miss World participation in SABC 3’s Expresso show ahead of the pageant.
