The World Cup has reached the boiling point and we’ve seen the favorites slowly emerge. South Africa failed to qualify for Qatar 2022, as a matter of fact, the last time Bafana Bafana was in 2010 as the host nation. We’ve seen a lot of changes to the national team and many will agree that we are stoll far behind in terms of development. Hugo Broos has been slowly building his squad that will compete against the best.
This star will always have a special relationship with the World Cup. He didn’t just play with Bafana Bafana but scored the opening goal of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. He remains a legend because of this and this has helped him to accelerate his brand. He is definitely a legend of South African football as he also played for Kaizer Chiefs for the most part of his career.
Sphiwe Tshabalala took to social media to share pictures of himself in Qatar. He recently flew out to the World Cup to watch the games between Morocco and Portugal, France and England. He clearly had fun as he shared snaps of himself at the stadium. He also had an opportunity to explore the country and dice into the culture.
His trip is sponsored by Dstv South Africa and he is part of a group of football influencers. He was spotted chilling with Kwesta and a number of the people. It was only right for him to be chosen considering what he had done in the competition. Teko Modise, Hlompho Kekana are amongst South African football legends who have attended the ongoing Wolrd Cup in Qatar.
Shabba will most probably have a couple of people who recognize him. His brand is definitely up with the best in the World Cup. He recently shared that he hasn’t retired from football and he is open to offers. What ever happens from here, he is undoubtedly an icon for South African football and a pioneer.
