The first musician on the continent to reach the billion dollar mark is a well known South African artist. That is, if his estranged wife’s statement during their divorce proceeding are to be believed.

 

The wife made the shocking claims about her husband’s billionaire status in court papers she filed at the Joburg High Court last week, where she is also requesting R400 million from their “combined estate” and an indefinite postponement of their divorce hearing.

A few years ago, the musicians his wife divorced after the wife accused the husband of physical abuse and adultery. The wife requested a divorce decree and an equal division of assets after their marriage broke down.

They we’re married in community of property, so after their marriage fell apart, the wife requested a divorce judgement and an equal division of the artist’s fortune.

They were married outside of community of property, according to the Grammy winning musician, who is fighting her request for a part of the joint fortune.

The wife offered to cover her husband’s unnecessary fees in the court documents that we have seen, and she requested an indefinite postponement of the trail that was scheduled to begin on Tuesday.

The estranged couple is Black Coffee and Enhle Mbali.
