The South African entertainment industry is quite big when it comes to the television soapies that play on local TV. Every weekday, South Africans are tuned into their favourite television soapies from 18:00 until 21:30 mostly, and many of the stories that play on television are able to touch on the societal issues that people are afraid to address in real life. They might be based on fictional characters or fictional lives, but they can also be educational for the majority of the time.

 

 

 

 

On the etv channel, a new drama series was introduced after the loved drama series Rhythm City came to an end, which left many of its fans devastated but also excited to see what the new drama series had in store for them. Durban Gen is a drama series that mostly takes place at a hospital and focuses on the personal lives of doctors and nurses as well as their work-life. Many people have been happy with what they are seeing, but some have stated that they do not understand clearly what this drama soapie is actually based on, even though most of the events happen at a hospital.

People were left more shocked and unsatisfied with the current storyline. Durban Gen’s first season has come to an end, and it is currently in Season 2. What left people shocked was that season two of the show is taking place five years later and so much has changed in the characters’ lives. Some of the characters are now parents of two children and have been promoted at work,while others are married, and one character is training to be a traditional healer.

Viewers of the story were not happy with what they saw, and others said that Durban Gen is becoming a joke.
