Dreams come true for Eastern Cape actress after landing role on Shaka Ilembe

An Eastern Cape actress is loud if her career after she landed a role on the popular series Shaka Ilembe.

Sivenathi Mabuya-Bukani, said she had always wanted to take the acting world by storm from a young age.

The local production has attracted more than 3.6-million viewers across Africa who are glued to their screens on Mzansi Magic every Sunday.


 

 

Mabuya-Bukani plays King Senzangakhona kajama’s first wife, Mkabi.

Senzangakhona kajama is Shaka Zulu’s father who is in a polygamous marriage.

The series took seven years to make and features award-winning stars including Nomzamo Mbatha, Wiseman Mncube and Lemogang Tsipa.

The series unpacks events around the life of King Shaka of the Zulu kingdom. Shaka’s mother is played by Nomzamo Mbatha.

Mabuya-Bukani, the former Scandal actress, first appeared on our screens in 2016, and has remained in the spotlight ever since.

She said her passion for acting kept her going in the industry. Featuring in Shaka ilembe was an honour and a dream come true.

“Being a part of Shaka ilembe is surreal. I still can’t believe I was cast in it, and as a Zulu queen at that. It just shows how important it is to have a vision, sharpen your skills and trust the process.

She added that after what seemed like 100 callbacks, she finally got word that she had landed the role of Mkabi, the first wife of King Senzangakhona.

She said acting in the series had kept her challenged.

Mabuya-Bukani said on days when she felt life in the industry was difficult, she remembers her best days in front of the camera.
