Dr Sindi Van Zyl’s last words before she died

The previous week had been one of the most challenging in Mzansi, a week that some would describe as being shrouded in darkness. With so many RIPs, social media, especially Twitter, has been at an all-time low. Dr Sindi Van Zyl, who had been a hospital since February, died of Covid-19 this week in Mzansi. Not only that, but AKA’s fiancée Nellie Tembe died in the early hours of Sunday, April 11 after falling from the 10th floor of a building in Cape Town.

Dr Sindi’s and Nellie’s tributes poured in, but what sealed Dr Sindi’s death was her Twitter page tweeting for the last time. “The Dutchess of Healing, Dr Sindi Van Zyl, is now truly at rest,” the page tweeted in a thread. Dr. Sindi died early Saturday morning, April 10th, 2021. She was a beautiful soul who lived and gave tirelessly with grace and compassion, a beacon of love and light. She was a living example of Jesus’ love and grace. The family humbly thanks everyone who has stood with them recently in prayer, compassion, and solidarity to help raise funds for Sindi’s hospital bill. Marinus, her loving husband, and their lovely children, Nandi and Manie, are the ones she leaves behind. Image

She also leaves a lasting legacy through the medical assistance and guidance she provided to others in her life. Sindi will establish a foundation to continue to support the causes that she was so passionate about and lived out. Sindi asked that any personal goodbye messages she sent to those close to her not be released. One of her greatest accomplishments was allowing people from all walks of life to share their deepest thoughts with her. We are grateful for all of the heartfelt messages of love and encouragement that have been sent our way. Greetings, The Van Zyl Family.”

Dr Sindi was lying on a bed of hope about a week ago. Her family pleaded with the public to assist them in raising R2 million for Dr Sindi’s medical expenses. As South Africans replied to the call, the hashtag #GiftSindLife became popular. However, things did not go as planned. Dr. Sindi has been characterized as a caring individual who cared for others whether she knew them or not. She was a selfless soul, and many of her Twitter followers are grateful that they were able to witness her humanity and kindness. The Dutchess of Healing leaves behind her husband Marinus and two children, Nandi and Manie, whom she dubbed the Caramellos.
