Dr Nandipha Magudumana who is appearing at the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court was seen blowing kisses to her family. Her mother and sister became emotional.
The mother was seen wiping away tears as she could see her daughter and husband in the dock facing serious criminal charges. The mood was very tense inside the court.
Zolile Cornelius Sekeleni, the father of Dr Nandipha Magudumana was sitting next to his daughter, and were having a little chat before the court proceedings.
Critics however argued that Dr Nandipha Magudumana is still hiding her face with a mask when everyone already know who she is. She was wearing a mask and covering her head with a hoodie.
“Why is she hiding her identity when the whole world knows who she is? Something does not add up in this saga,” they said.
The Magistrate however asked her to reveal her face for identification which he did for the first time in court. She removed the mask and the hoodie.
This was after the state requested that Nandipha should show her face so they can ascertain it is her. She obliged.
She also confirmed that she was the person who made the first appearance, covered up last week. Dr Nandipha will remain behind bars in Kroonstad, pending her bail application in 2 weeks time.
Accused number 3 in the Thabo Bester saga, Teboho Lipholo, who was in charge of the CCTV at the Mangaung prison was previously convicted for stock theft. This was revealed by the state when he appeared at the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court today.
The prosecutor says the state is not opposed to bail for Zolile Sekeleni who is Dr Nandipha’s father. They said bail can be set at R10 000 and he will have to adhere to conditions like reporting to a police station.
