Gqom musician Dladla Mshunqisi, has left many South Africans in stitches, after he ran away from the police yesterday, in a protest held in Durban. The N3 highway was brought to a complete standstill by Durban-based artists, who are demanding for events to be open under #VulaPresident.

It is no secret that coronavirus pandemic has had a knock-on effect on a number of things, and many artist across the country have been greatly affected by the lockdown restrictions resulting in events and concerts being closed. This means some have not been able to make money from gigs, which is their source of income.
Artists are also demanding clubs to be open as they get gigs from them to sustain themselves and their families. Shimza even tweeted and said ” Yes it’s entertainment for you but to artists it’s their livelihood. #VulaPresident”he protest gained momentum yesterday, and it was attended by the likes of Dladla Mshunqisi, DJ Tira and Dumi Mkokstad. The protest had a mini stage set up where a couple of artists entertained the crowd.
As police fired teargas to disperse the crowd, scores of protesters ran away from the police and tweeps gave Dladla Mshunqisi a stamp of their approval for being the best runner.
The musician swiftly ran away from the police to avoid being arrested too and his speed left many in stitches. Some even say he is ready for the Comrades Marathon while some are saying Usain Bolt and Caster Semenya are facing some tough competition from him.
