DJ Sbu called a CHAKRA HUN for embracing his 3rd eye

We can deny it all we want but most of us are living neat, predetermined lives. Especially black people. Some of us grew up not liking the texture of our hair because we were told that it is not appropriate for school, at later for work. Works of decolonization are in progress but there are still some deep-rooted anti-black spaces, including life itself.

DJ Sbu has been trending on social media for the past couple of days. His videos speak about connecting to the sun; allowing your hair to grow in its ‘aeriel’ form; opening your third eye; hugging trees and walking barefooted left people with contrasting responses. Some reckon that Zahara did a number on him traditionally, while others see this as a transition from conforming to societal expectations and consciously moving towards his true self.

 

 

 

 

The most stunning of the claims are the ones alleging him to be a Chakra hun. The term Chakra hun is usually used to refer to spiritual people, including Sangomas. These are people who are in sync with their energy centres. In this case, it’s not really used gorgeously, it’s just assuming that DJ will soon come out as having an ancestral calling.

I find it odd that we are so distant from our core that we think the only reason someone would start walking barefoot and hug trees, is that they are bewitched. Again, Jay Z went through a similar transition with his hair but he was not called a chakra hun. The only time most local people celebrate things is when and if they are done by international people.
