Amapiano DJs Kabza De Small—real name Kabelo Petrus Motha and Themba Sonnyboy Sekowe who is popularly known as DJ Maphorisa are undoubtedly two of South Africa’s most successful amapiano DJs and have their booking fees and hospitality riders to show for it. DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small are undeniably leading amapiano music in Mzansi. The duo also known as the Scorpion Kings have made several hit songs such as Abelele, Nana Thula, Asibe Happy, and more. Their booking fees were leaked on social media in 2022, revealing that their indoor booking fee allegedly cost a whopping R200 000, and for outdoor events, they charged an even more shocking R300 000.

But what was revealed to be even more outrageous is their hospitality riders. A hospitality rider in Leman’s terms is a list of requests for the comfort of the artist which include things like preferred foods and beverages, transportation, hotels, and so forth.

The Scorpion Kings hospitality rider allegedly includes two five-star hotel suits and nine extra standard bedrooms. An additional R28 000 towards transportation, an additional R100 per diem, as well as armed private security. They allegedly charge extra to do additional appearances as well as if they are required to obtain VISAs.

Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa have left a sour taste in a number of promoters’ mouths. Earlier this year, their hospitality riders became a hot topic after some promoters complained that their hospitality riders cost more than their booking fees, ZiMoja reported.

“We have the Amapiano artists that hardly pitch for events. They complain about flights, they are unprofessional and demand expensive alcohol that costs more than the booking,” a Botswana promoter, Leko Kenosi was quoted as saying during this year’s South African Creative Conference.
