DJ Maphorisa a big deal in South Africa

DJ Maphorisa, whose real name is Themba Sonnyboy Sekowe, is a South African record producer and DJ. He was born on November 14, 1987, in Soshanguve, a township in Pretoria, South Africa.

DJ Maphorisa is best known for his contributions to the genres of amapiano, house music, and Afrobeat. He gained international recognition through his collaboration with Nigerian artist Wizkid on the hit song “Soweto Baby” in 2016. The song received widespread acclaim and helped DJ Maphorisa gain a significant following outside of South Africa.

 

 

 

He is also a founding member of the South African music group, Uhuru, which was formed in 2012. The group achieved success with their hit songs like “Y-Tjukutja” and “Khona,” which showcased their unique fusion of African sounds and electronic music.
