DJ Fresh has finally commented on the accusations made against him by Ntsiki Mazwai in June 2020. The poet and activist had publicly accused the DJ of rape and harassment, something which Fresh has strongly denied. On Wednesday, 22 July 2020, the Johannesburg High Court released statements confirmed that there was a legal battle between both personalities, and ultimately ruled that Ntsiki was no longer allowed to speak about DJ Fresh on any public forum. With many people further accusing Fresh of silencing a rape victim, he took to social media today, 23 July 2020 to offer an official statement on the matter. The statement claimed that his legal team had originally asked Ntsiki to remove her post, based on the fact that it was completely false and tarnished the work her has done to promote eradicating Gender-Based Violence.
He went on to explain that only when Ntsiki refused to retract the statements, did he decide to serve her with a lawsuit under the grounds that she has caused reputational damage.
