It looks like the viewers of this much-loved television show will have something to look forward to in 2022 as The Ranakas will soon grace Mzansi screens again.

It is understood that the show’s season 5 will premier on January 6. The show gives a glimpse of the everyday life of an African family in a manner that is unfiltered.

 

 

 

The Ranakas are a family of five siblings. Manaka Ranaka, also known as “Lucy Diale” for those who watch Generations; Mpumi Ranaka, a gentle soul, writer and mother; Ziggy Ranaka the eldest son, husband to Michelle and a hustler in the family; Ranaka Ranaka, the last-born, a DJ who embraces his youth lifestyle; and Dineo Ranaka, who is a well-known media personality and television producer.

Entertainment writer Phil Mphela took to Twitter to break the news and fans were excited. “The hit reality is back with a brand brew season. Season 5 sees Ntate Ranaka searching for his sister, trials for running the business during Covid, Manaka and more.”

It is believed that this season will also introduce viewers to Dineo Ranaka as “Gogo Somahashe”.

SowetanLIVE reported that Dineo Ranaka will now be known as Gogo Somahashe, after accepting her spiritual calling. Dineo told the publication that the process began 17 years ago when she fell ill and nobody could explain what was wrong. Now, at 37, she has finally finished her initiation.

Fans also got to share their excitement about the television show.

“I love this show… I love how Dineo Ranaka is maturing. Yet she is a straight talker who does not take any nonsense but handles things in a mature way,” wrote one.
