Actress Luyanda Shezi popularly known for portraying Lungile Jele on Diep City has revealed how she escaped being a sex slave.
In an interview with the Daily Sun, Luyanda Shezi revealed that the incident happened between 2017 and 2018. At the time, Luyanda was enrolled at the University of KwaZulu-Natal’s Howard College campus.

She said she and her friends were in the habit of going out and it was during one of these outings that they were approached by a group of men. Luyanda Shezi said one of the men took an interest in her and they eventually became close friends.

Luyanda said:
I had friends and from time to time we’d go out to have some fun. But this one time, we were joined by some men. We formed a friendship with them, one of them took a special interest in me. At first, I didn’t mind. We became close friends.
Luyanda Shezi said things took a turn when he offered her money to sleep with her on a weekly basis. He offered to pay R5 000 each time. She flatly turned down the man’s offer to be his sex slave. Luyanda Shezi said she eventually blocked his number.
She said:
During our chats he made his intentions clear that he wants to turn me into his sex slave, he said he wants to sleep with me on weekly basis and he’d pay R5 000 each time. I was angry and offended by this. I turned him down but he wouldn’t stop. He kept insisting and begging me to sleep with him, but I kept pushing him away. Eventually, I blocked him and made sure I stay away from him.
Luyanda Shezi said the man wanted to take advantage of the fact that she was poor. She said she was glad she stood her ground and turned down his offer.
The actress said:
Looking back, I can see that I was just one of his many potential victims. Through our interactions, he’d seen that I’m poor and I was likely to give in to his demand. I am glad I stood my ground
