According to information provided by his family, fashion designer Reggie Matlaila (Molamu) passed away on Sunday following a brief battle with sickness.

Mangi Molamu, Reggie’s sister, told Drum that her brother became ill on the 23rd of October and left Joburg to return to their home in Mokopane, which is located in Polokwane.

The passing of Moneoa’s close friend and celebrity designer Reggie Matlaila has left her in a state of sadness.

On Monday, the singer posted photos of the two of them together to Instagram, along with some thoughts about the nature of the friendship that existed between them.

Over the course of the past two days, I’ve made it a point to keep myself as busy as humanly possible. The year 2022 is not shaping up to be one that I will look back on with fondness. The very idea of having to come to terms with the fact that I will have to go on living in a world in which you are no longer present puts an excessive amount of strain on my heart. 11 years have passed, Reggie. Eleven years’ worth of some of the most precious and heartwarming recollections I’ve ever had.

“Ever since I was a tiny and scrawny looking wannabe vocalist, you have showered my life with love, inspiration, and support. You loved me in spite of the fact that all I had were hopes and dreams. My brother, my best friend, and the center of my being. She noted in her letter that “yours is a spirit I’ll love in all incarnations.”

A slew of celebrities expressed their amazement and grief by responding to her mentions on social media.

“Reggie! One of the most generous people I’ve ever come across in my life’s travels. I’m really sorry Mama,” wrote Lerato Kganyago.

Thandy Matlaila remarked, “I am aware of the depth to which he loved you.”

Somizi Mhlongo, a judge on Idols South Africa and a successful businessman, recalled the final time he met the late designer.

“About a week or two ago, I ran into him at the plaza, and we gave each other the warmest, longest hugs before he suggested that we go do lunch together.”

Drum was informed by the designer’s family that he passed away following a brief illness at the age of 43.

“You are aware that when you aren’t feeling well, there are times when you wish you were at home. I suppose that can be considered the case…”

He didn’t seem to be in pain for very long, but he had to have experienced at least some discomfort. He arrived at home on Monday, and he passed away on the 29th of the month,” she stated.

Moneoa, Zikhona Sodlaka, Zahara Cici, and Bontle Modiselle are among the famous people that Reggie has dressed.

According to his family, the funeral for the gifted fashion designer Reginald “Reggie” Matlaila will take place on Saturday in the settlement of Moshate in the province of Limpopo.

According to reports, kidney failure was the cause of death for Matlaila, who passed away on Sunday at the age of 43.
