The late Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa’s bestfriend insists that accused number two was involved in the murder of his friend in what he and the other witnesses who present during the shooting, describe the incident as a robbery gone wrong.
Tumelo Madlala, to the friend of the late footballer on Monday returned to the witness stand to be cross-examined by the defence lawyer advocate Timothy Thobane, who is representing four of the accused men.
In September, Madlala took part in dock identification wherein he pointed out Ntanzi as the man who Meyiwa had pinned against the wall on the night he was fatally shot, during an alleged robbery gone wrong.
According to Sunday World, a statement that was approved by Madlala suggests that Longwe Twala, the son of producer Chicco Twala, killed the football star and ran off.
This damning evidence was revealed by the defence counsel, during the cross-examination of Madlala.
In the statement, Madlala alleges that he couldn’t disclose that Longwe had killed Meyiwa because he didn’t have a firearm.
The statement read:
“I was for the first-time to see Longwe Twala, and I did not tell anyone or the Meyiwa family that Senzo was by Longwe Twala because he did not have a firearm with him, instead he ran away”.
Thobane asked Madlala to explain what made him to put this in writing to which Madlala said the statement was written by a police officer. Madlala said he only answered the questions and the officer penned the statement.
This despite having agreed before giving his response that indeed he signed and approved all his statements, Sunday World reports.
