Couple manage to give birth to identical twins with different skin colors.

A mother of twins uses her son’s albinism as an opportunity to educate others, saying, “He has no limitations.”

“Everyone is curious to know if they are friends. Are they related in some way? They respond with “No, that’s not possible” whenever I try to explain to them that they are twins.

When Stacy Omirin gave birth to twin boys in February of 2019, she was greeted with the greatest surprise of her life.

Omirin was aware that she was carrying two babies, but she never dreamed that their complexions would be so different from one another. David, on the other hand, has golden blonde hair and a pale complexion as a result of a rare genetic condition known as albinism. Daniel, on the other hand, has dark brown hair and brown skin like his mother and father.

According to the National Library of Medicine, albinism is characterized by a lack of pigmentation in the iris, hair, and skin of the affected individual.

As can be seen in the pictures and videos that their mother posts to Instagram, the boys, who were born and raised in Nigeria, have now reached the endearing age of three years old. Additionally, they have a channel on YouTube. They get a lot of attention when we’re out,” Omirin, 33, told TODAY Parents, noting that she dresses her sons in identical outfits on purpose so that they can garner as much attention as possible. “Everyone is curious to know if they are friends. Are they related in some way? They respond with “No, that’s not possible” whenever I try to explain to them that they are twins. Daniel, the twin who has brown skin, was given the personality trait of “inquisitive” by Omirin, a fashion designer. At the moment, he has a strong desire to comprehend the inner workings of various electronic devices. In addition to that, he is very neat.

She stated, “If his shirt has even the tiniest stain on it, he’ll take it off.” On the other hand, David has a more rough-and-tumble personality.

Omirin disclosed that “David is friendly like Daniel, but he’s more mischievous than Daniel.”

According to Dr. Emma Guttman-Yassky, a dermatologist at Mount Sinai hospital in New York City, up to 20,000 cases of albinism are reported each year in the United States.

Prenatal testing for the condition can be performed between the 16th and 20th week of pregnancy.

Guttman-Yassky told TODAY that albinism does not always manifest itself solely as a skin condition. “Albinism is characterized by a lack of pigmentation in the skin, hair, and eyes, which can cause a person to have impaired vision. In extremely unusual instances, the ear canals may also be affected.”

Albinos in Nigeria are subjected to high levels of discrimination and are often considered to be social outcasts, according to the Albino Foundation of Nigeria. Attacks and mutilation of people with albinism have been documented in certain regions of Africa, such as Madagascar, due to the widespread belief that certain parts of an albino person’s body bring financial success and prosperity.

Omirin stated that there are times when people make comments about his albinism. “Children are curious about the reason why he is white. However, I am instructing him to have self-assurance. He gives no consideration to what the opinions of others are. He is following his own path in life.

David is able to “see the tiniest of things,” according to Omirin, despite the fact that albinism is commonly associated with light sensitivity and vision problems.

She stated that “for the time being, he does not have any limitations.”
