Just before the first month anniversary of her son’s death, Costa Titch’s mother vowed not to rest until she finds out what happened to him after he collapsed during a performance and later died.
The 28-year-old rapper died suddenly after collapsing at the Ultra Music Festival at the Nasrec Expo Centre on 11 March. His family held a private funeral days later and celebrated his life in public memorial services in Johannesburg and Mpumalanga, his home province.
“I promise you, my son, that I will not rest until I find out what happened to you,” his mother wrote in the caption of a photo of them on Instagram.Titch’s cause of death has not yet been disclosed.
In another post, she said: “Love you forever, my son. I will always be so proud of you.”
The grieving mother also said she wished the Big Flexa hitmaker could “bounce back” to them in the caption of a video of the rapper at Bounce trampoline park.
After his death, Senegalese-American rapper Akon described Titch as “more than just an artist”, adding that he was “a brilliant superstar and hardworking man with a kind heart endeared to all around him”.
The pair collaborated on Big Flexa for its remix and performed at Cotton Fest in Johannesburg earlier this year.They also announced a “first of its kind” global deal with Akon’s record label, Konvict Kulture.
“I was convinced he was going to make an impact in this world,” he said. “Costa Titch had a vision that I knew for sure would take over the music industry globally and was on his way to doing just that when God’s plan intervened.”
