As the once-popular Amaroto that ignited the Kwaito and Amapiano scene is no longer around, the trend of ensembles dissolving continues. There had been rumors of the group breaking up for some time, but nothing was confirmed. Reece Madlisa, however, just debuted his solo EP, “Kwaito Nama Medi,” which may have validated what was already on everyone’s mind.
Reece Madlisa and Zuma, who have a long experience in music, have released smash hits that burst the Amapiano bubble and reached national and international giants like Davido and Chris Brown. While fans of Amapiano are still getting to know them and appreciating their music, the duo now appears to be following in the footsteps of previous departed musical ensembles as they subtly revealed that they would be pushing their individual careers.
The upcoming EP will be released in the first week of February and surprisingly has no features from Zuma. The album holds five tracks and Zuma is absent from the tracklist.
The absence of Zuma further suggests that perhaps the split between the two might have not been very smooth or cordial.
